A good beginning to MotherTheme …

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

MotherTheme has had a good beginning, and I’m working primarily on marketing, since that’s what creates sales, which is the lifeblood of any business.

The new members are busily working on using MotherTheme, we have had some good beginning discussion in the member forum. I have also had some nice emails and comments from our new members, about the theme, saying it’s high on innovation and creativity, and that this is going to be a big help to them.

I’m going to be creating the skins repository soon, so that I can give you access to more skins to use. I also hope to have a place for you to upload your own skins, if you are interested in creating some.

But for now, please enjoy the theme. The current developer license is at a ridiculously low price, so get in while you can at this price, before it goes up, up and away!

Tutorials To Help You With Your Web Design

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

One of my major goals in starting this website was to help web designers who are just starting out. When I was starting out I had to look all over to find out how to do various different parts of web design. My hope is to get enough content loaded for you that this can become a sort of one-stop shop for learning how to do web design without going to a university for it.

I learned design from the street, essentially. I had to try different things and see what worked. And since I’m currently creating a new website theme every week, I am learning a ton more than I ever imagined. So I want to help you! The link to the tutorials site is **no longer active**.

Please enjoy it and let me know if you find it helpful!

Don’t see what you really need? Post a comment and let me know, so I can add the things you really want, first.

Grunged By This Week’s Theme …

Monday, May 5th, 2008

wpthing themeThis week’s theme is again a Wordpress theme. I think we’re all starting to see a pattern here …

But this is different, this theme is grunge, unlike any of the others so far. In fact it was my first stab at grunge and I think it turned out pretty good!

The fun thing about doing a new theme every week is that I am getting a lot better with the easy stuff and the basic stuff, so that I can spend more and more time working on really cool stuff. I have to say that this theme is formatted down to the details more than some of the other themes. Oh, maybe not, but that’s kind of how it seems.

This theme is pretty heavy, the background image is large. So don’t use this theme as your spacesaver. Of course, you can always change the background image if you want to. If you need any help with that post it in the forum.

Well, please enjoy it, I made it for you!

(By the way I designed it for a new site I am developing called wpthing.com. You’ll hear more about that in the coming weeks. But for now enjoy the new theme!

New Wordpress Theme With 6 Sidebars

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Back To basics Wordpress ThemeThis theme is called back to basics but perhaps that’s a little misleading. This theme pulls out a lot more stops than most other themes you could get your hands on. There are 6 different sidebar positions where you can load widgets. This means you can really make this theme custom for your own situation, without having to learn any coding at all.

I also used an open structure, meaning it’s not tight to the sides of the page. There is space for breathing. The effect of this is that the theme has a wide look, and it looks big.

The sidebar elements and header, for the most part, are transparent over a sweeping background, so as you scroll down the page there is movement behind the words. This tends to look really cool, in my biased opinion.

What would I recommend this theme for? Non-profits, nature lovers, businesses, design studios would be a few ideas that come to mind. But of course, the theme can be used for anyone!

This Week’s Theme Night Grid

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Night GridI’m excited to release this week’s theme, called Night Grid. It’s dark, hopefully you like dark themes as much as I do. Make a comment on this post to let me know!

The theme is sort of like the one on 6Templates.com, that you are looking at right now, some of the elements anyway, but it’s dark.

There are two widgetized sidebars, one of them is invisible on the demo site. But I would recommend putting a searchbox in that widget, which is at the top of the page. The screenshot shows you how that looks.

I hope you enjoy using it. Full members get it for nothing! Learn more about the full membership here.

Until next week!

Wide Sky Theme Just Released!

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

True to our promise of one brand new theme every single week, here is the latest, Wide Sky. It’s a Wordpress theme that’s been tested with both 2.3 and 2.5. It may also work fine with older versions.

There’s something about dark themes, they are just plain cooler. I hope you can find a use for this one, either for yourself or one of your clients. Or maybe both. The picture was taken in Evergreen CO at sunset.

6Templates is here to help you make sure to have a steady stream of ideas and themes to use for your clients. There is one new theme that comes out every week so you will stay on top. And more ideas for you means less time spent creating websites and more time spent finding more customers. In other words, more money in your pocket.

The page validates in CSS and HTML 1.0. This means you will have a faster loading website and cleaner code. You can boast about it all you want.

This theme also features a sidebox that is on every page, that you can extend vertically as far as you want. You can fill it with ads, text, links, whatever you want.

I hope you enjoy it, I also created a free version that I will make available soon. It’s already available in the free downloads to free members.

To get this theme you need to sign up as a template club member.

New Theme For Members, Enjoy!

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

OK, I am pretty happy with how this theme worked out. I think it can be used in a lot of different ways.

I even created a modified version to use on my own son’s website, here. (NOTE: Store not included! That’s a customization of a Zen-Cart theme that I did. Let me know if you need that too!)

Soon I will have some more color variations and use some different images in the header. I hope you enjoy this theme. If you have any questions about it, as always make sure to post in the forum.
